"Aucilla River Sink" 22"X 36" Oil on Canvas
Among the many different subjects artist Keith Padgett paints are his splendid landscapes.
A native of Florida, Keith is best known for his landscape paintings depicting the land of his birth place.
He began painting these pristine places deep in the swamps and woodlands of Coastal Northern Florida fearing they would not
always remain preserved for his grandchildren's grandchildren. Keith’s paintings evoke a sense of fascination and tranquility reflecting his personal experience.
Keith captures the infinite beauty he sees in these mysterious places through his unwavering attention to detail and use of unusual color to establish a unique sense of light and atmosphere.
Keith Padgett began his artistic pursuits at an early age as a
teenager in Perry, Florida. Unique among his family and friends in his love of art and music, he began his formal art
training under the direction of Jules de Romand Bacot, a continued source of
inspiration and friendship. He earned an art scholarship to North Florida College studying design and composition. He then continued his studies at the prestigious Ringling School of Art and Design in
Sarasota, Florida where he experienced the original works of the great Baroque Masters first hand.
After working for Busch Entertainment, Keith formed his own company offering creative design and
artistic services. Twenty years later, after a successful career as a commercial artist and muralist, he has
returned to his fine art roots.
Returning not only to his artistic roots but also the roots of his birth place, Keith began to learn and study under Richard Schmid and Nancy Guzik. Learning to make every stroke count.
Keith works out of a rustic
studio on the property of a 200 year old home he restored (and continues to restore) in historic downtown Perry, Florida,
painting for various private and corporate collectors. Keith’s art has been
commissioned throughout the United States, Canada, and England. His work has been purchased by such notable
institutions as Florida A&M University, Mary Brogan Museum of Art, State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, and State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Keith is actively involved in the art community serving as an honorary member of the Taylor Art Guild, a member of the Cultural Resource Commission and serving as a judge in the Annual Florida Forest Festival Fine Art Show and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Annual Fine/Performing Arts Celebration. In 1999 Keith responded to a state-wide Call To Artist for the Art In State Buildings Program. He was awarded the commission for two paintings, the result of which both are now a part of the State of Florida’s permanent art collection.
